Kudremukh Trek Homestay at the Mullodi Base Camp

Reach in the evening, in daylight if you can. That gives you dinner, a camp fire, a proper night of sleep and an early breakfast before the trek. Call from the main road so the jeep is waiting — there is no mobile network at the homestay.

About 20–22 km round trip, roughly 9–11 km each way, and 7 to 9 hours for most groups including breaks. All trekkers must be back down at the base before sunset.

The Forest Department caps the number of trekkers allowed up each day, and weekend slots go quickly once they open. Book your permit as early as you can, or call us to check.

In Mullodi village, Kudremukh, in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. It is about 14–15 km from Kalasa and roughly 8 km up a hill road from the main road at Balegal. Mullodi is the last village before Kudremukh National Park.

Yes. The Kudremukh peak trek starts from Mullodi village itself, so you walk out of the homestay and onto the trail. That is the main reason trekkers stay here instead of in Kalasa or Samse.

₹1,500 per person for 24 hours in a room, or ₹1,000 per person for 24 hours in a tent house. The 24 hours is counted from the time you check in. Both include 4 meals plus evening snacks, the camp fire and the walk to Mullodi Falls. Children are charged the same rate as adults.

Yes — 4 meals plus evening snacks. The 4 meals are breakfast, a packed lunch to carry on the trek, dinner, and the next morning's breakfast. Evening snacks with tea or coffee are on top of that, not counted as one of the meals. Non-vegetarian guests get chicken fry with dinner. Anything ordered outside the fixed menu is charged extra.

There is no mobile network at the homestay, on any operator, and the signal fades well before you get there. Wi-Fi is provided for emergencies so you can reach home if you need to. Download your maps, tickets and music before you leave the main road.

Yes, hot water is available. There are some conditions depending on the timing and how many guests are in — please ask us when you call so we can plan for it.

Yes. There is a diesel generator, so the lights stay on when the village power goes, which it does fairly often up here.

Yes, with conditions. Please ask us when you book. This is a family home in a small village, so we do expect guests to keep it sensible and keep the noise down at night.

Every room has its own attached bathroom. Tent house guests use a clean common washroom on the property.

Either way works. You can book the permit yourself on the Karnataka Forest Department portal, aranyavihaara.karnataka.gov.in, and simply come. Or call us — if slots are still open we will book it for you and you pay us the amount. The forest entry charge is ₹575 per person and a guide is ₹1,000 for a group of up to 10.

The last 8 km from the main road is a rough half-road. SUVs and jeeps manage it, but a normal hatchback or sedan will struggle, especially in the rains. Most guests park below and take our jeep — ₹1,400 for the round trip, up to 8 people.

No. The Forest Department does not permit camping inside the national park, and all trekkers have to come back down to the base village before sunset. Our tent houses are on the homestay property, outside the park, which is the legal way to camp here.

October to February is the best window — clear skies, cool weather and green hills. March to May is dry and quieter. June to September is the monsoon, which is stunning but comes with heavy rain, leeches and trekking restrictions.

Yes for the stay. The homestay, camp fire, food and Mullodi Falls work well for families. The Kudremukh peak trek itself is a long 20–22 km day and is better for reasonably fit people — the Nethravathi peak trek is an easier alternative.
